WHAT: Wear a college sweatshirt/t-shirt day!
WHEN: Every 2nd Wednesday of the month
WHERE: All over campus and in your classrooms!
There will be college reps at lunch and
presentations throughout the day.
WHY: It is an opportunity to “show-off” your college colors, to hopefully spark conversation about college with your students We all have such different stories and circumstances about how we got through college that it would be beneficial for the students to know that they too, can make college possible.
WHAT TO DO: Take some time out to talk about your personal college experience. You may also want to talk about any aspect of post-secondary education you deem appropriate for your class levels.
Suggested topic ideas:
-Begin by talking about the college you graduated from. What is your major? Did you switch majors? How many times? Why did you choose it?
- What made you choose the college? How did you hear about it?
-What did you like/dislike most? Did you dorm? On/off campus?
-How did you finance your education? (big question!!!)
-Have you always taught? Did you work in another industry before?
-You may talk about how the subject matter relates to the “world of
work”
-If you would like “career-related” ideas, lessons or speakers for any of the days, please, do not hesitate to ask me, I have resources for you.
