OCM-  OCM invites everyone to room B103 at lunch today.  Our guest speaker is Pastor Bill from Calvary Chapel of Downey.  Don’t miss it!

Boy’s Waterpolo-  Congrats to the boy’s varsity waterpolo team who defeated Downey with a score of 12-9.  Our JV squad played an incredible game against Downey but suffered a loss.

Girl’s Cross Country-  The lady bears ended their season with and outstanding finish by barely missing the title by one point!!  Varsity League Finals are this Friday at 2:00pm at La Mirada Park so go support your team.  Reminder:  Pictures are today, don’t be late for the bus!!

Art Club-  Day of the Dead is a celebration which takes place on November 1st and 2nd to honor the dead.  It is commonly celebrated in Mexico and amongst the Mexican communities living in the United States.  Today honors & celebrates children and infants who have passed away.  Tomorrow honors all adults who have passed.  Enjoy the art!!

Academic Decathlon-  There is a mandatory meeting for all Academic Decathlon members this Friday at snack in room X7.

Spirit Week-  Today is Downey Dork Day, and Friday is Spirit Day.

Softball-  All girls interested in trying out for the softball team, come sign up on Nov. 7th @ 2:45 in room O1. 

CSF-  Attention all 12th grade CSF members:  There will be a mandatory meeting Thursday Nov. 8th @ 7:15 in room X33.  We will be electing this year’s officers and discussing “seal-bearer” eligibility. 

Community Bears Members-  We will have our weekly meeting tomorrow during both lunches.  See you there!!

Girl’s League Members-  This is a reminder that we have a meeting during first and second lunch in the library.  So come join us for lunch to discuss upcoming service projects.  See you there!!

ACS-  Attention Bears:  Each day more than 4,000 teens try their first cigarette and another 2,000 become regular daily smokers.  Of those, about a third will die from a smoking related disease in the future.  The Bears of Hope want to tell you, “Today is not your day to become part of the statistics.”  Help us pick the butts!!  There is a meeting in G1 today at lunch so be there!!

Yearbook-  Seniors!  Yearbook is holding a senior ad night in room A105 on Nov. 5th from 6:30 to 8:30pm.  This is to give you or your parents an opportunity to purchase a dedication for the back of your senior yearbook, making your senior year even more special.  Come prepared with your pictures and message.

Swap Meet-  The Warren PTSA is having their first swap meet this weekend, Nov. 10th.  We are in need of student volunteers to help us with the clean-up from 2:45pm until done.  Meet in front of the Administration office and Saturday!

Waterpolo-  Our boys water polo team played a valiant game yesterday in CIF but were defeated by Western High School.  It’s been an amazing season and coach is proud of you.  Nice job boys!

Volleyball-  Congrats to our Lady Bear Volleyball Team who defeated Lancaster last night in the first round of CIF.  They play again Thursday so come support!!

OCM-  OCM and Girl’s League members participating in Operation Christmas Child please have your money and boxes turned in on Nov. 14th. 

Bears Community Members-  Just a reminder that we have our meeting today during both lunches.  1st lunch is in A202 and 2nd lunch is in X33.  See you there!!

French Club- Hey Warren! This is your French Club here with your French fact for Nation French Week: In Paris, France, you are never more then 400 meters away from a subway station.

Band and Color Guard: Congrats Ban and Color Guard. Tuesday night the Band and Color Guard swept their competition earning overall best Band and Color Guard. The Band has placed 2nd at all previous competitions! It’s been an amazing year already. The Band and Color Guard travel to Vegas Friday to compete across state lines. Wish them luck. Great job students.

Blood drive- Hey Bears! The Blood Drive is Wednesday November 14th. If you would like to donate blood and save up to 3 lives, sign up with any ASB member or stop by S-1 today.

French Club- Hey Warren! It’s your French Club here with the French fact of the day for National French Week! In France it is illegal to call a pig Napoleon.

JV Football- The JV Warren Foot ball Team defeated Dominguez on Thursday 17-6. The bears were led by James Orozco, Shawn Esparza, and Manny Olivarria. Jorge Rivera, Ernesto Rodriguez, Josh Rodriguez, Tony Pianelli, Alex Gutierrez, and Cody McAllister did a great job on the offensive line. The Bears were led on defense by Chris Gutierrez, David Del Toro, and Kevin Kim. The defense only gave up 3 touchdowns on the year. The bears went 10-0 on the season and won The League Chamionship.

Girls League- Girls league and OCM members: anyone wanting to participate in operation Christmas child may use a regular shoe size box. All boxes and $7.00 shipping are sure by Wednesday November 14.

Blood Drive- Hey bears! The first Blood Drive for the year is on Wednesday November 14th. You can sign up during both lunches today in the quad or with any ASB member to donate blood and save up to 3 lives.

12th Grade CSF- Attention 12th Grade CSF members! There will be a brief CSF meeting NEXT TUESDAY, NOVEMBER, 15TH at 7:20am in room X-33. We will be discussing seal bear eligibility and electing class officers. Be on time or you will lose out!

Band-  Congrats to band and color guard for placing 1st, high color guard, high draws, and high music effect at the Las Vegas Valley Field Tournament on Saturday.  Great job Bears!

Blood Drive-  Congrats Bears!  We collected 140 pints of blood which saved 420 lives!

Coffee Shoppe-  Are you still having trouble waking up in the morning???  The stop by the Girl’s League Coffee Shoppe before school, during snack, and even during lunch!

Girl’s Basketball-  The girl’s alumni basketball game is on November 21st at 6:00pm.  Tickets can be purchased from any girl’s basketball member.

Boy’s Baseball Tryouts- Do you want to play baseball?  Boy’s baseball tryouts will begin TUESDAY November 27. It will start at 3:30 sharp on the baseball field and will run from Tuesday to Friday. See Coach Alvarez on the baseball field right after 6th period for sign ups.

GRAD NIGHT- tickets are on sale for 75 dollars until the end of December. The price will go up to 80 dollars in January. Tickets can be purchased from Mrs. Baldwin in the banker’s office. 236 students have already signed up to go don’t be the only one missing out in all the action.

Girl’s League-  Girl’s League Movie Night is finally here. The girls league movie night is today after school in P4.  All members are welcome.

Grad Night- Grad night tickets are on sale for $75.00 dollars until the end of December. The price will go up to $80.00 at the beginning of January. Tickets can be purchased from Mrs. Baldwin at the cashier’s office. REMEMBER, we need a bus permission slips too! These slips can also be picked up at the cashier’s office. Did you know that 236 students are already signed up to enjoy this all-night, fun-filled event? Lists of those are posted in the display case in the cafeteria. Check out the list. Those whose names are in red need to get their permission slips in ASAP. No permission slip no grad night. Be sure you don’t miss out.

Wrestling- Congratulations to the JV wrestling team for winning the El Rancho duels with a 5-0 record. 11 of 14 wrestlers won gold medals. They were led by Edward Rojas, Damien Gomez and new comer, Daniel Capilla.

Environmental Club- Attention all members: We will have a meeting on Thursday at snack to vote for president.

EAOP- Attention all juniors: if you have a 3.0 GPA or higher and you are in Algebra 2 or higher, you qualify to be a part of the EAOP program. There will be an information meeting this Wednesday after school in the cafeteria after school. See you there.

Girls Basketball- Congratulations to the lady bears for defeating Sunny Hills 44-32 in the Downey Tournament. The team was lead by Cynthia Lara with 16 points and Stacy Peleon with added8 points. The girls face John Glenn today at 6pm at Downey High.

Boy Basketball- Boys Basketball season is here! The season starts off tonight as you Warren Bears travel to La Serna in Whittier. The freshman game begins at 3:00pm, the Junior Varsity begin their contest at 4:30, and the Varsity team takes on La Serna at 6:00pm. All students are encouraged to come out and help guide the bears to victory. Let’s go bears!

Art Club- Art club meeting is Wednesday after school. We will begin our chalk mural.

Community Service-  Attention students in need of community service.  If you are interested in working the switchboard in the main office every morning before school please see Mrs. Weighlin in the guidance office.

Girls Basketball- Congratulations to the lady bears basketball team for beating John Glenn 49-39 in the Downey tournament yesterday. The team was led by Frances Vaalu with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Cynthia Lara added 19 points and Amy Montes with excellent defense. The ladies will play Montebello today at 6 at Downey. Go bears!

Band- Congratulations Band and Color Guard for advancing to Marching Band Championships. The band and color guard perform at 7:30 pm at Murrieta Volley High School This Saturday. This is the 6th year on a row the band and color guard has qualified for championships. Good luck!

Boys Track-  The Warren boys track team will be having tryouts in two weeks!! More information will come soon.  See coach Miranda if you have any questions.

Environmental Club-  Attention all club members!  We are voting for president at snack in U1.

Girls Basketball-  Congrats to the lady bears for defeating Montebello 49-29 last night in the Downey Tournament.  It was a total team effort for the ladies.  Cynthia Lara led with 22 points.  Good job ladies!

Yearbook-  If you are an underclassmen and you want to be apart of our yearbook staff, report to room A105 during your lunch.  Don’t hesitate!

Downey Federal Credit Union-  Stop by the Credit union in K3 to start a savings or checking account.  We are open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45- 3:45.
