Halloween Haunt- Are you ready for the scariest night of your life? Knott’s Halloween
Haunt tickets will be available to purchase starting Monday October 1st. You can buy them at both lunches in the quad or anytime in T1. Your discounted prices are $32 to $42. That’s a huge savings delivered to you by the sophomore ASB. Make sure you buy them before it’s too late.

American Red Cross Club- Our first Red Cross meeting will be today at snack in room

IFC- Ever wanted to be in a movie or even make one? Well the time is now. Join the
Independent Film Club. The first meeting is this Wednesday October 3rd in room K2 after school.
Boys League- Don’t forget to turn in your applications now. If you turn in your application by the 5th, your fee is free. After that there will be a 5 dollar fee. Turn it in today.
ACS Club- There will be a very brief meeting today in G1 today for the American Cancer Society bears of hope. Please stop by to get an application.
CSF- CSF applications are now available. See your grade level advisor for application and remember they are due Tuesday October 9th. Advisors are as follows: freshman Mrs. Harr in room F2, sophomore Mr. Yamasaki in room S110, juniors Mrs. Jones in room X34, and seniors Mrs. Murphy in room X33.
Independent Film Club- Ever wanted to be in a movie? Then it’s time to join independent film club. The first meeting is today in room K2.

Bears Community Members- Don’t forget to turn in your application with the fee and a copy of your report card. You can turn in your applications to the bankers office before Friday. Applications are due Friday so don’t delay.
Chess Club- Play chess during lunch in room U1.
Environmental Club- All students interested in joining there will be a mandatory meeting in U1 at 7:20 on Thursday.
Drama Club- Please come by X36 today after school for your free tickets to Sunday’s show Oklahoma at the Downey Theatre.
Girls League- Attention all members! On Monday October 8th girls league will be offering a college workshop that is open to all members. If you have not turned in your application you are still invited to attend. So come join us on October 8th at 1:00.

Homecoming Court- Homecoming results are in! The underclassmen princesses are: freshman Brianna Mendoza, sophomore Sarah Del Rio, junior Kat Piera. Now for the senior Homecoming Court; Senior princesses include: Rosie Alaniz, Denise Antillion, Natalia Bertinelli, Vanessa Guzman and Lauren Terrazes, senior princes include; Alfonso Gonzales, Matthew Johnson, Anthony Lopez, Josh Perez and Carlos Salas. There will be a meeting during lunch in O1. Congratulations to the 2007-2008 Homecoming Court!

Senior Class- If you have not made an appointment for your senior yearbook portrait, this is the last week to do so! October 8th is the last senior sitting and if you have not had your senior picture taken by Sanford you will not be in the yearbook so call Sanford today at 562-698-0071 to make your appointment.

Big Buddy- If you are interested in being in the Big Buddy/Little Buddy program please come by room U5 to pick up an application.
Boys Basketball- Boys basketball will be washing cars in the parking lot this Friday, October 5th starting after school until 5 p.m. $5 for cars and $8 for trucks. Buy your pre-sale tickets from any basketball player on campus.
Boys Water Polo- Scott Lueke led varsity water polo to a victory over Bosco with a score of 7 to 6. The team also played an amazing game last night but lost with a score of 8 to 10 to last year’s CIF champions. We are proud of you boys!
Boys League- Turn in your applications today. If you turn them in today the application is free, after today there is a $5 application fee.
Girls League- Monday October 8th girls league will be offering a college workshop that is open to all members even if you have not turned in your application. Meet Monday at 1:00 in the library.

Girls Golf- Congratulations to all lady bears girls golf team as they improved to 10 and 1 with a 227 to 283 win over Savanna at Dan Miller Golf Course. Raquel Perez and Savannah Vilawbee shot 3 over par to lead the bears. Way to go bears.

Frosh Football- Freshman football defeated Lynwood 28-6 on Thursday. Justin Aguilar, Brian Borjas, Oscar Gonzales, and James Reyes had touchdowns. The defense did a great job against the knights. The bears are 1-0 in league.
JV Football- JV football defeated Lynwood Thursday 23-0. Billy Trevino scored two touchdowns for the bears. Geovanni Mayoral added a field goal. The defense eared its 5th shutout of the season. Manny Oliverria and Shawn Esparza had interceptions for the bears. They are now 6-0 on the season.
ASB- Sophomore ASB members there is a mandatory meeting today during snack in room T1. Please be on time.
French Club- There is a meeting today at snack in room U4!
Girls Cross Country- Dani Moreno and Euginia Carroll led the way to victory for the cross country team yesterday with help from Monica and Aileen. The Warren TV cross country team as led by Stephanie Dagnino to a great finish yesterday. Good luck next week and Mt. Sac!

Boys Cross Country- The boys defeated everyone in their league for the second time and won all three division at the San Gabriel Valley Cluster #2. Our Varisty boys took the first three places. Our Varsity are now 10-0 in league. The frosh-soph team remained undefeated as they were led by Erica Quintero and Janak Patel.

Girls Golf- The girls defeated Santa Ana with a score of 224 to 308 and improve to 11 and 1. Christine Lee shot 5 over with a 41 and Raquel Perez and Savannah Vilawbee shot 43’s to lead the bears.

Band- Last Saturday the Band and Color Guard started off their competitive season with a great step forward. They placed 2nd in Band, %th in percussion and 1st in color guard.

Girls Golf- The ladies golf team beat Downey yesterday at Los Amigos Golf Course with a score of 233 to 244. the lady bears improved to 12 and 1 and are in first place in the Orange League.
Boys League- Mandatory meeting Wednesday in room H3 during both lunches.
All Students-This Friday is October spirit day and the theme is sports day so come early and grab a raffle ticket for wearing your sports attire. ASB will be raffling off prizes so make sure you get here early dressed up for your chance to win prizes. Hats are not allowed.

Shirts- Warren vs. Downey shirts will be on sale starting this Wednesday during both lunches at the stage. Shirts are $15 dollars and there are two designs to choose from.
X-Country- The girl’s team competed in the Mt. Sac Invitational. Eugenia Carrol, Dani Moreno, Monica Gonzalez, Yessina Martinez, and Aileen Savedra finished fifth place out of twenty schools.
Gay Straight Alliance- Attention Students! GSA is every Tuesday after school in room X14. Everyone is welcome!!
Girl’s Golf- The Lady Bears got second place with a win over Western yesterday at Rio Hondo Country Club. They Lady Bears qualified for CIF playoffs for the first time in school history!! Good Luck Ladies!!!
Bears Community- Attention Bears Community Board Members. There will be a board meeting this Thursday, the 25th at 7:10am in room X33. This meeting is mandatory for all board members. Be there!
R.O.P- As of September 10, 2oo7 all underage work permits expired. If you are under 18 and you have a job, you need to renew your work permit. Come by the ROP office today.

ACS Bears of Hope- The ACS Bears of Hope would like to thank you for supporting our school wide Think Pink Day. We would also like to inform you that regular mammograms detect 80-90% of all beast cancers, so tell someone you love over the age of 40 to get a mammogram.
Girl’s Volleyball- Congrats on the girl’s volleyball team on their win over Gahr last night 3 games to 1. The bears are now 2nd place in league and play Downey this Tuesday @ 7pm for 1st place. The bears are now 14-9 overall. Nice job girls!
Blood Drive- Attention students! Our Blood Drive is coming up on November 14th. If you want to donate blood and save up to 3 lives, sign up with and ASB member today.
