The Warren High Tobacco Use Prevention Education program was designed to address and remedied the prevalent use of tobacco products by high school students. The Warren High program comprises of three key components, Awareness, Education and Cessation.

Our Awareness Program includes informational posters, brochures, videos and other educational materials to inform students, staff and parents of the health risks of tobacco use. The materials are readily available throughout the campus at high visibility areas used by students including the Guidance Office, Attendance Office, Main Office, Library, Cafeteria and the TUPE Center. The Awareness Program includes community outreach through the dissemination of tobacco use prevention information in the PTSA newsletters, Academic Boosters Council flyers and the Warren High web page. The TUPE Center staffs an information table at all key parent events including Back to School Night, Open House, and Student Registration in the summer. The Awareness program includes two highlight student events, which are Tobacco Tuesday in the month of October and a celebration of the Great American SmokeOut (Teens Kick Ash) in November.

Our Education program focuses on infusing tobacco use prevention information throughout the curriculum in subject specific areas. The TUPE Center provides subject specific units available for teachers to utilize in their classes. Examples of such units include the history of the tobacco industry in the United States (Social Science), the health effects on the human body (Science) and calculating and graphing the amount of noxious ingredients in tobacco (Mathematics). Additionally, TUPE Teaching Units are available as substitute lesson plans and are stored in the Main Office. The Center provides supporting materials for the implementation of these units including videos and models.

Our Cessation Program is an opportunity for all high school students to make a healthy choice for the future and receive assistance through a Saturday workshop. The sessions are offered on a bimonthly basis and students are nurtured in an environment of support and encouragement as they attempt to quit using tobacco products. Students may be referred to the program when they have been caught with tobacco products. If the student chooses to attend the workshop, they may have their fine reduced or eliminated by the courts. Other students voluntarily sign up to attend upon recognizing their dependence and need for help.
